Early socialization (especially the first 2-9 weeks of life) of a kitten is essential in order for them to adapt to a domesticated life with his or her human family. The most confident and social kittens are those are raised in small home-style catteries, used to the sounds and routines of family life, as opposed to those who have been raised in cages with very little human contact.
